Labor of Love

What about the fruit

If we eat it too early

Before it is ripe

It will make us sick

If we wait too long

The fruit will rot

And fall off the tree

We reap when the fruit is ripe

And the tree is full

Then it will nourish us and sustain us

It takes me right back to the garden

In the beginning

The fruit never fell

From the tree of knowledge

She picked the fruit

And ate it

And at that instant

She gave rise to a savior

The act of love

Brings to fruition

The object of love

We are the fruit

Of the labor of love
